Greenland
Tourism Greenland hired myself and co-partners in a now defunct venture, a Youtube Channel called ‘A Brit and Broad’ in 2015 to travel to one of the most underrated places on earth. Shadowed by Iceland, Greenland is hardly visited and largely uninhabited. In fact, only 56,000 people live on the island, despite its vast size which is mostly covered in tundra.
Being from Canada there were a huge amount of double takes. The Greenlandic people have similar language and culture to other Inuk peoples, and often greet each other as brother or sister whenever they meet. I suppose they’re just across the water from the Labrador Sea, despite being part of Denmark’s kingdom.
I find the vast expanse of nothingness exhilerating. It’s not often that you go for hours and hours and not see a single soul. Or the midnight sun on a ferry down the southern coast. It’s places like this that keep me up at night and keep me wanting more.
